In other words, removing from 1 kg of unsprung mass is equivalent to a reduction of 8 kg from the total weight of the vehicle.

Consider that the RAM single arm weighs only 3.5 kg, which means 1.5 kg less unsprung mass and therefore dynamically 8 times 1.5 kg means 12 kg less weight.
